Welcome to Reception at Catsfield CEP

This year is very different. We would normally be pleased to invite everyone interested in their child attending our school in to meet us and take a tour of the school. Even very recently we had hoped to create an Open Saturday but sadly under lockdown 2 that is no longer possible. Instead we have added some information here for you to read, some videos so you can meet us and a few images of the setting and our current class busy in their learning. We hope it gives you some idea about Early Years at our school. We also recommend exploring the website further so you can find further information and get more of a feel for the ethos of our school.

Provisonal Open Saturday Visits 9th January 2021 CANCELLED

We had hoped to hold an open day on Saturday 9th January just before the deadline for admissions September 2021 where you would be able to meet Caroline Garland, Headteacher, and Briony Harwood, Classteacher, as well as take a tour of our school and ask any questions you may have. Sadly this is now not possible and all paoointments have been cancelled. If you would like to speak to Miss Garland about your child attending Catsfield CEP and ask any questions please do call us to make a phone call appointment on 01424 892 247.

Our Head pupils would like to take you on a tour of our school and tell you why they think Catsfield CEP is a great place to learn and grow.

A welcome from the Headteacher

Choosing the right school for your child can be a worry. You may have a choice of several schools near to where you live and so you will want to find out as much as you can about all of them so you can make the right choice when you apply.

Please take a look at my welcome video. It is always good for you to see who is leading the school and who the members of the teaching team are.

If you have any further questions that we haven't yet answered please do give us a call. The details are below.

Miss Caroline Garland

Headteacher

Video will be uploaded shortly- do come back and take a look.

Meet Mrs Harwood- Tigers Class Teacher

Mrs Harwood is our Tigers Class teacher. This is our transition video which gives you a good idea of what to expect when your child attends.

When must I apply by?

If your child was born between 1 September 2016 and 31 August 2017, then they are due to start primary school in September 2021. Don’t miss the deadline on 15 January 2021If you miss the deadline you are much less likely to get the school you want.

You can find out more information on the East Sussex County Council Website here:

Transition for Early Years Children

After Easter 2021 we plan to begin our arrangements for your child to begin transition in to their first class.

You and your child can start by attending some 'pop in and play' sessions on some afternoons. This gives them and you a chance to become familiar with the classroom inside and outside and spend time with the classteacher.

We invite everyone who will be attending in September to come together on the school field for some activites during a June morning. This is a lovely time for parents and carers to meet too. The chidlren can play together and know you are nearby for reassurance.

In late June and in to July we plan some afternoon sessions for more 'pop in and play' and one or two occassions for you to leave them with us for a short time. These sessions are planned in very small groups and last for about 1 hour.

We find all these opportunities help your child to settle in to their new class and get to know their teacher and teaching assistant well before they start in September.

Great transition leads to fantastic starts!
